Tour of France 2014
Our first time taking a caravan into France and after preparations with a brand new caravan that we hadn't been away with yet, we were a little apprehensive.
This was to be our longest trip away, the whole of June and nowhere booked, just moving on as and when we felt the need. It started with getting Cassie's pet passport sorted, taking too many things and the trip from our home village just outside of Hull down to Folkestone to catch the train through the channel tunnel, we chose this because it was less stress for our dog.
From Calais we worked our way down to the Dordogne area and after a pleasant stay moved across to the French / Swiss border to Lake Annecy, which was our highlight of the tour. Then travelling north into the Jura mountain district and by our third week we were heading towards the Somme where we visited the WW1 graves, memorials and battlegrounds.
As for the weather it rained for one morning and once again during the night, at all other times it was blue sky and 28 - 32 degrees temperature.
The car and caravan behaved impeccably but whilst on an alpine road solo driving we did have a clash of wing mirrors with a motorhome, a new glass got fitted at home and the paintwork polished out OK, all in all we covered about 2,500 miles.
